Salon concept turns heads in Woodstock

A hairdresser introduced a new concept in salons in Woodstock recently. Viktor Mitchell describes his business - called Viktor's Blue Rose Salon & Boutique - an event salon.

"The whole idea is to create an experience and environment that is devoted to personal service," said Mitchell, who is co-owner with Gerald MacPherson.

"We're planning to hold beauty clinics and seminars. It will be a networking opportunity for every customer."

Mitchell had wanted to own this type of salon, but couldn't find the right location. He and MacPherson took a drive and found the perfect spot in Woodstock.

"Everything came together quickly. Barb and Ray Kierstead, who own the building, have been excellent in helping us and introducing us around," he said.

"Woodstock's downtown area has a great mix of businesses that is great for us."

Initially, Mitchell will continue to work two days a week in Fredericton. He will be working in Woodstock on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

"I don't want to abandon the customers I have had for many years. And I'm looking into booking appointments for Saturdays," said Mitchell who has been a hairdresser for more than 25 years.

"In the near future, Emerson Calhoun will be working with me."

In addition to providing full-salon services and products, Mitchell is carrying jewelry made by Mboot who is located in Harvey.

"We are the exclusive dealer of Mboot creations in the area. We also have paintings by Barb Gill for sale," he said. "In addition to being an impressionist painter, Barb is also an accomplished author."

Mitchell's vision is reflected in the name of the new business. The colour blue denotes royalty and the rose is considered the most beautiful flower of all.

"Every client will get the attention and expertise that is deserved. Service with a style is the basis of this salon and boutique."
