Third Women's Show was a success

The results are in and the Women's Show was a success.

"It was awesome," said organizer Tanya Dixon. "There was a great turnout by the public at the (Carleton) Civic Centre on Saturday."

Approximately 2,000 people came out to see the many products and services on offer this year.

That is almost double the number from last year. Dixon said the number has been increasing since the show started in 2005.

"Returning and new visitors were impressed with the selection of vendors," she said.

The big hits at the show were the Little Miss Woodstock pageant and the doggie fashion show.

Sabrie Vail was crowned Little Miss Woodstock. Aslynne Schriver was chosen as Second Princess, while Lauren MacDougall was named First Princess.

Musical entertainment included Alyssa DeLong, who belted out a Canadian Idol-worthy performance of Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats.

Miss Hartland Amy Page sang a sweet rendition of Call on Jesus by Nicole Sue Mullin.

Three big door prizes were given out at the show, starting with a wicker patio set won by Anne Belliveau.

A spa package went to Barb Dingee and a diamond-studded bracelet was won by Vivion Burtt.

The Best Vendor prize trophy went to And Now for Something Completely Different Jewelry, which was a third-year returning vendor.

Dixon said the feedback from the public on the show was excellent. She confirmed the fourth annual show will be happening again next year on Mother's Day weekend at the Carleton Civic Centre in Woodstock.
